Juristic Madhhab

Hanafi & Shafi Asr Methods

Configure your Asr calculation according to standard juristic rulings. The Shafi, Maliki, and Hanbali schools calculate Asr when an object's shadow length equals its height (1x), while the Hanafi school observes when shadow length equals twice the object's height (2x). Switch seamlessly with one tap.

High Latitude Rule

Polar & High-Latitude Adaptations

For users residing in Northern Europe, Scandinavia, or Canada where twilight persists throughout summer nights, Noor provides certified high-latitude adjustment formulas: Angle-Based, One-Seventh of the Night, and Middle of the Night approximations.

Manual Offsets

Per-Prayer Manual Minute Offsets

If your local neighborhood masjid adheres to a localized calendar with fixed buffer minutes, Noor allows you to fine-tune individual prayer times by +/- 30 minutes to match your community congregation down to the second.

Under The Hood

Engineered by Adam Apps with Flutter & Native iOS Bridges

Building Noor required overcoming complex mobile challenges: compiling astronomical trigonometry in Dart, bridging Flutter state to Swift ActivityKit for Dynamic Island updates, and managing local notifications without background battery drain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about Noor Prayer Times & Adhan

Does Noor require an internet connection to calculate prayer times?

No. Noor calculates every single prayer time (Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha) 100% offline using mathematical solar coordinates and your device latitude and longitude. Once your location is saved, you can go into airplane mode or travel off-grid and your times will always remain exact.

How does Noor support both Hanafi and Shafi Asr times?

In the settings of Noor, you can toggle between Standard (Shafi, Maliki, Hanbali, where Asr begins when the shadow of an object equals its length) and Hanafi (where Asr begins when the shadow equals twice its length). The adjustment is calculated instantaneously.

How do Live Activities and Dynamic Island work in Noor?

Noor bridges Flutter to Apple’s native ActivityKit via Swift. It starts an activity that displays a persistent countdown pill in your iPhone Dynamic Island and on your Always-On lock screen, showing minutes remaining until the next Salah without needing to unlock your phone.

Can I silence the Adhan when I am in the mosque or in a business meeting?

Yes. Noor allows per-prayer notification controls. You can set full melodic vocal Adhan, short chime, gentle haptic vibration, or silent push notification individually for each of the five daily prayers.
